About Hunter McGrady
Hunter McGrady is a pioneering plus-size model, entrepreneur, and advocate for body positivity, renowned for her trailblazing work in reshaping the fashion industry's standards. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Hunter McGrady's journey to confidence and success has not been easy, but she has never let adversity be a barrier to success. McGrady began her modeling career at age 15 as a straight-size model, however, after struggling to maintain the industry's restrictive size requirements, she transitioned to plus-size modeling at 19. In 2017, McGrady made history as the largest model (size 16) to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, marking the beginning of a long-standing partnership with the publication. She returned to the magazine almost every year since, including gracing the cover of the 2024 issue, eight months postpartum, dedicating the moment to women who have never seen themselves reflected in the world around them.
Beyond modeling, she co-hosts the podcast The Model Citizen alongside her sister Michaela McGrady, where they foster an open and supportive space for women to candidly discuss taboo topics and normalize shared experiences. Their warm and relatable approach often leaves listeners feeling like the “third McGrady sister.” A mother of two, McGrady continues to inspire through her advocacy and commitment to challenging beauty norms. Her work has earned her recognition to grace the covers of HEALTH Magazine and the Knot as well as being featured in publications such as Glamour, NY Post, Good Morning America, NY Times, Teen Vogue and many more.
